With summer coming to an end, the bright autumn foliage comes nearer. Not only will we be able to celebrate spooky Halloween and Thanksgiving, it will finally be cool enough to relax comfortably outside. Fall is also the cosiest time to go sightseeing.
Anywhere you go in New England is an ideal travel destination for all seasons. With each state having their own beautiful scenery and fall activities, and almost all of them are about three hours away the airport or Amtrak station. If you have a week to spare, do consider having a trip to New England’s states to enjoy a grandeur of fall foliage.
Though if you don’t have that much time available, Damariscotta, Maine is a great place to start. Damariscotta is best known for the Maine Pumpkinfest and Regatta that’s held during Columbus Day weekend every year. The festival features several activities such as pumpkin boat races where participants carve out pumpkins that weigh 600 pounds. There are also live music and art exhibits that you can visit.
Asheville, North Carolina
Perfect for driving tours, the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville North Carolina is easily accessible. If you want to be closer to nature, there are also plenty of hiking trails for you to conquer.
Besides the abundant mountainous beauty and trails, Asheville is also known for the Baltimore Estate. America’s largest privately owned estate, Baltimore was constructed by the Vanderbilt family in the late 19thcentury. Visiting the estate is an excellent way to enjoy European elegance without having to fly over the oceans.
Fall in Asheville can be visibly seen during the last week of September where the colours begin to turn into light caramels.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Montreal is a beautiful place to visit all year round, but fall gives this Canadian gem a different aura. Located on a hill at the center of the city, Mount Royal Park feeds your visuals with stunning views.
The Montreal Botanical Gardens is ideal throughout fall, mid-September and early November, the price of the admission fee will truly be worth for what you are to see in the gardens.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Situated in the Tetons, Jackson Hole is an all rounder four-seasons destination. September and October, during the fall season, is the two best months to visit. Jackson Hole is also very nearby the Grand Teton National Park which encompasses the Snake River Canyon, ideal for hunting fall colours and nature exploration.

After the closure of the historic Highway 1 because of of the landslide that occurred in 2017, Big Sur has finally reopened for business again. You can now drive the 90-mile coastal stretch from Carmel to San Simeon, where you can visit the iconic Hearst Castle.
A drive to Big Sur, you will be able to enjoy the breathtaking views of redwood forests, stop by hiking trails and, of course, take in the pristine coastline. There are several roadside stops to stop by and explore the surroundings, including art galleries and restaurants.
Being in the centre of California, Big Sur can be accessed from Los Angeles or San Francisco. Whether you’re coming from the northern or southern stretch, the way to big Sur is still one of the best driving tours in America.
