The annual Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is back! The four-day festival was inaugurated in 1979 and is now currently one of the largest in Europe, attracting over 100,000 people daily. If you’re UK-bound this summer, you can be a part of the festival by heading down to Ashton Court Estate from 9th to 12th August.
Be in awe as over a 100 balloons are launched into the air by participating teams from both the UK and other parts of the world. The mass ascents take place in the morning and evening on all four days of the festival at 6am and 6pm.
As the festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary, several iconic balloons from past festivals would be making their return this year. Spot the fan favourites such as the Michelin Man, the Superbike as well as the Peanut Man that has been scheduled to appear over the weekend.
In addition, this year’s Fiesta would also be featuring the famous Night Glows on 9th August (Thu) and 11th August (Sat) where balloons would light up to music for about an hour from 9pm. There would also be an impressive firework display put up on both nights.
If you’re travelling by bus, First West of England would be operating a shuttle bus from both Bristol Temple Meads railway station and The Centre (St Augustine’s Parade) to the Fiesta on all four days at £3 (~S$5.40).
If you’re up for a walk, Ashton Court is approximately a 45-minute walk from Bristol city centre.
